    Description

Prooflike 1834 Classic Quarter Eagle, MS 62 PCGS

1834 $2 1/2 Classic MS 62 PCGS. An important transitional year in the quarter eagle series, 1834 witnessed the production of two different types. The Capped Head Left design made its final appearance and was replaced by William Kneass' Classic Head motif. This is an important prooflike representative of the latter type whose surfaces are deeply colored in green-gold hues. The strike is bold throughout and, although somewhat scuffy, the surfaces are free of individually mentionable distractions.
From the Judge Thomas Butt Collection.
