    Description

1834 Classic Head Quarter Eagle, MS60
    First Year of Design

1834 $2 1/2 MS60 NGC. CAC. Variety 2, R.3. All gold denominations saw a reduction in weight in 1834 to prevent large-scale hoarding and melting. This change was accompanied by a change in design to the new Classic Head motif, which circulated freely in the national economy. This well-detailed Mint State example shows pleasing yellow-gold surfaces with prooflike reflectivity in sheltered areas.(Registry values: P1)
