Conditionally Rare Gem 1834 Classic Quarter Eagle

1834 $2 1/2 MS65 NGC. Breen-6138, Small Head, R.2. As the premier issue in the Classic quarter eagle series, the 1834 is an immensely popular coin among type collectors. Mint records indicate that 112,234 pieces were produced; therefore, it is no wonder that the 1834 is also among the more available dates in this series. At the Gem level of preservation, however, it is anything but common. Well struck, this example displays rich yellow-gold surfaces that are free of most noticeable abrasions, save for some very slight scuffiness in the obverse field. A gorgeous Gem that would be hard to duplicate in any collection. Population: 11 in 65, 2 finer (4/04). (#7692)
