    Description

    1835 Classic Quarter Eagle, MS61
    Rarely Seen Variety 5

1835 $2 1/2 MS61 NGC. Breen-6141, Variety 5, R.5. This is a rare variety from 1835, characterized by the high positioning of star 6 on the obverse and the Broken M on the reverse. Unsurprisingly for an 1835, the fields are bright and semiprooflike, much as seen on the previous year's emission. The center of each side is weakly defined, but the margins are sharp. Bright yellow-gold color overall; a number of small abrasions peppered over each side explain the MS61 grade.(Registry values: P1) (NGC ID# 25FT, PCGS# 7693)
