    Block 8, Variety 8

1836 $2 1/2 Block 8 MS61 NGC. Breen-6142, Variety 8, R.3. Large Head of 1834. A mildly prooflike Classic gold type coin that benefits from an unusually bold strike throughout the major devices. This lovely and only lightly abraded quarter eagle has considerable eye appeal. The total mintage for the type is less than 1 million pieces, below that of the highly regarded Type Two gold dollar.
