    Description

    1836 Classic Quarter Eagle, MS64+
    Block 8, Variety 15

1836 $2 1/2 Block 8 MS64+ PCGS. CAC. Breen-6144, Variety 15, R.2. The 1836 Classic Head quarter eagle claims a substantial mintage of 547,986 pieces. This coin represents the Second Head of 1837, Variety 15, with a Block 8 date style and a detached berry in the olive branch on the reverse. In general, the Block 8 varieties are more elusive than their Script 8 counterparts. This high-end Choice example offers pleasing peach and rose-gold surfaces that radiate vibrant mint luster, and only minor signs of contact are evident. The usual strike softness on Liberty's hair curls below the band and the eagle's leg is apparent. Population: 8 in 64 (1 in 64+), 4 finer. CAC: 3 in 64, 1 finer (11/18).
