1836 Classic Head Quarter Eagle, MS64+
    Block 8, Variety 15

1836 $2 1/2 Block 8, Second Head of 1837, Breen-6144, Variety 15, R.2, MS64+ PCGS. CAC. The 1836 Classic Head quarter eagle claims a substantial mintage of 547,986 pieces. This coin represents the Second Head of 1837 Variety 15, with a Block 8 date style and a detached berry in the olive branch on the reverse. In general, the Block 8 varieties are more elusive than their Script 8 counterparts. This high-end Choice example offers well-detailed design elements, with just a touch of the usual softness on Liberty's curls below the band and the eagle's leg. The pleasing orange and rose-gold surfaces radiate vibrant mint luster, and only minor signs of contact are evident. Population: 11 in 64 (1 in 64+), 4 finer (3/16).(Registry values: P1)
