    Description

NGC 1836 MS 64. Head of 1835. Unbelievably we have a second MS 64 example of this scarce issue in the same sale. This is a later die state of the Head of 1835 and shows a prominent die crack that traverses the entire diameter of the obverse from the 6th star, terminating between the 12th and 13th stars. A bit softly defined in the centers, as usual, the surfaces exude a soft satin-like sheen and there is just the lightest touch of color on each side. Population: 9 in 64, none are finer.

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25FU, PCGS# 7694)

    Weight: 4.18 grams

    Metal: 89.92% Gold, 10.08% Copper

‡ The owner placed a late bid on this unreserved lot and repurchased it, subject to applicable commission.
