Challenging 1837 Quarter Eagle
MS61, McCloskey-B
1837 $2 1/2 MS61 NGC. McCloskey-B, R.2., distinguished by
three lines in the stripes of the shield, and overlapping of the
right foot of the last A in AMERICA and the arrowhead. Variegated
apricot and yellow-gold patina graces lightly marked surfaces.
Partially prooflike fields yield mild contrast with nicely defined
devices. Examples can be located in XF and AU, but Mint State coins
are challenging.(Registry values: P2)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25FX, PCGS# 7695, GSID# 8245)
