    Description

Underrated Mint State 1837 Quarter Eagle

1837 $2 1/2 MS 62 NGC. Although its mintage of 45,080 pieces is similar to that of the 1838, the 1837 Classic quarter eagle is a scarcer coin in all grades. This is a remarkably lustrous BU example whose frosty surfaces reveal swirling cartwheel effects. The devices are nicely defined and the original color is green-gold in shade with orange overtones.
From the Charles O. Blaisdell Collection.
