Well Defined 1838 Quarter Eagle, AU55
1838 $2 1/2 AU55 PCGS. Breen-6146, R.2. The 1838 Philadelphia mintage of 47,030 pieces was apparently coined by a single pair of dies. This yellow-gold Choice AU specimen displays a greenish cast, and is visited by splashes of reddish-gold. Sharp definition is apparent on the design features, and a few light circulation marks are noted on each side.(Registry values: P1)Coin Index Numbers: (PCGS# 7696, GSID# 8247)
