    Boldly Repunched 39

    1839-C $2 1/2 AU55 NGC. Breen-6150, Variety 22, R.4. The 3 and 9 are boldly repunched on this variety that has sometimes been called an overdate in the past. The obverse has a lamination flaw in the left field parallel to the profile, and the reverse has a crack from the top of the wing to the border at 10 o'clock, and another upward from the left shield point. This Choice AU specimen has faint greenish tones over brilliant yellow surfaces(Registry values: P5)
