    1839-C Quarter Eagle, Near-Mint
    Noticeable Mint Luster

    1839-C $2 1/2 AU58 NGC. Breen-6149, Variety-24, R.4. The obverse die is shared with Variety-23 but the reverse is unique to the present marriage. A lightly abraded wheat-gold slider that shows ample luster across the motifs and margins. Well struck except on the stars. The shallow strike-through on the cheek is as made and often seen on this scarce Charlotte die variety.(Registry values: P5)
