    1839-C $2 1/2 HM-1, R.3, XF40 NGC. The mintmark sits above the space between 8 and 3, while a pie-shaped area below STA of STATES exists from the junction of two die breaks. Die lapping disconnects the berry and branch end. This Charlotte issue is always in demand, represented here by a bright, orange-gold coin with slightly busy fields, but much sharpness for the XF40 grade. NGC Census: (11/181).
