    Description

    Mint State 1839-C Quarter Eagle

1839-C $2 1/2 MS61 NGC. Recut Date. Winter 2-B. While the more frequently encountered of the two Charlotte Quarter Eagles, the 1839-C is scarce in strict mint condition with only five pieces believed extant in Mint State. Reasonably well struck, especially in the centers, the green-gold surfaces are somewhat choppy from abrasions (which explain the grade) and there is just the slightest accent of reddish patina on each side.
    From the Ashland City Collection.
