    Description

NGC 1839-C AU 50. Recut 39. The recut date is very obvious and was created by a markedly low 3 and a slightly low 9. It is a bit more available in all grades than the overdate, and in AU definitely a scarce and desirable item. Unlike many examples of this issue, this piece does not have the planchet problems or die breaks that are usually seen. The central striking details are strong and there are numerous small abrasions peppered across each side, the single most distracting one being in the obverse field up from star 13. Light reddish color is noted in the fields. A scarce and popular obverse mintmark issue. Trends $4,100 for the overdate, the recut variety is unlisted.
