    Description

    Overdate 1839-C Classic Quarter Eagle

1839-C XF 40 NGC. Overdate, struck from the first set of dies, with the distinctive die crack from the rim through the E in STATES. A scarce and highly coveted Classic quarter eagle that is usually seen in VF or XF at best. This piece is well defined in the centers but shows the usual softness of detail on the obverse stars. The green-gold color of the planchet is overlaid by a rich reddish-coppery patina that enhances the overall attractiveness of the coin. Numerous small abrasions are scattered across both sides.
