    1839-D Quarter Eagle, Mint Details
    Weak Stem Variety

These are colloquially referred to as the "Weak Stem" and "Bold Stem" by specialists, in reference to the eagle's olive branch. This unworn honey-gold "Weak Stem" example appears impressive to the unaided eye, although a loupe reveals careful smoothing on the field near the profile. The upper reverse displays a few unimportant marks.(Registry values: P4)
