    Description

    1839-D Quarter Eagle, Choice XF
    Original Green-Gold Surfaces

1839-D $2 1/2 XF45 NGC. CAC. Breen-6151, Variety 25, R.4. The distinctive die crack above the eagle's head confirms the variety. The 1839-D is the first Dahlonega quarter eagle issue and has a low mintage of 13,674 pieces. This is an exceptional example due to its original sea-green and chestnut-tan surfaces. Traces of dirt reside in design recesses, another indication that this coin has never experienced anything other than moderate 19th century wear.(Registry values: P4)
