    Choice XF 1839-D Two and a Half

    1839-D $2 1/2 XF45 PCGS. Winter 1-B, McCloskey-B, Variety-25, R.4. The scarcer of the two die varieties known for this important issue, the only one of the Classic quarter eagle type from the Dahlonega Mint. A scant 13,674 pieces were struck, and the few hundred survivors are in great demand. This pale green-gold example has plentiful traces of luster, and marks are inconsequential aside from a faded thin diagonal mark on the jaw. Encased in a green label holder. Population: 27 in 45, 53 finer (11/10).(Registry values: P4)
