    Description

1839-D AU 58 Fields Smoothed. Very scarce in AU or better condition, this is a pleasing coin for the grade that retains a fair amount of luster in the fields, albeit slightly diminished by tooling that has smoothed out old marks. Typically struck in the centers, there is a touch of softness at the juncture of shield and eagle's left wing, its neck, and at Liberty's ear.
