1839-O $2 1/2 AU55 PCGS. Breen-6152, Variety 27, R.3. The
High Date, Wide Fraction variety, one of two known for this low
mintage (17,781 pieces) production. The sole Classic New Orleans
issue, since that facility did not strike half eagles until 1840.
The present example is crisply struck and displays ample orange
luster at the borders. Neither side has any relevant
