    Magnificent MS64 1839-O Quarter Eagle
    Classic Head, Obverse Mintmark

1839-O $2 1/2 MS64 PCGS. CAC. Breen-6152, Variety 27. Wide Fraction on a reverse also showing a die crack between the topmost leaf of the olive branch and the I of UNITED. While all Southern gold enjoys popularity, early dates from the 1830s that show the mintmark on the obverse make for easier display of their coins' distinctive qualities. This 1839-O quarter eagle, from the final year of the Classic Head design, has softly frosted yellow-to-orange luster and warm, inviting eye appeal. The strike is uneven on the margins and soft on the highest points of Liberty's hair, yet the luster is undisturbed. This Condition Census-worthy coin is housed in a green label holder. Population: 4 in 64, 0 finer (11/12).(Registry values: P3)
