    Choice XF 1880 Hawaii Wailuku Plantation Token

    1880 Hawaii Wailuku Plantation Real Token XF45 PCGS. Medcalf 2TE-6. According to Donald Medcalf and Ronald Russell in their 1991 reference Hawaiian Money, The First Wailuku Sugar Co. employed 160 men and produced 1,600 tons of cane sugar in 1880. 1 Real and Half Real tokens were issued to laborers, these were struck from copper by a plantation blacksmith. Sharply struck for the issue, and essentially void of verdigris, unlike most pieces encountered. Listed on page 376 of the 2007 Guide Book.
