    1880 Wailuku Plantation Token, AU50
    1 Real, M. 2TE-6

1880 TOKEN Wailuku Plantation 1 Real AU50 PCGS Secure. Medcalf 2TE-6. A splendid chocolate-brown example of this rare Hawaiian merchant token. Unabraded though parallel roller marks (as coined) are evident. Unevenly struck (likely by a local blacksmith) with uncommonly well-defined stars for the variety. The Wailuku Plantation was an early cane sugar farm controlled by American businessmen. One real, a Mexican silver denomination, was roughly equivalent to 12 1/2 cents in U.S. money. Population: 2 in 50, 1 finer (8/13). Listed on page 410 of the 2014 Guide Book.
