    Description

    1880 Wailuku Plantation Token, XF45
    Half Real, M. 2TE-7

1880 Wailuku Plantation Half Real XF45 PCGS. M. 2TE-7. The Wailuku Plantation was an early cane sugar farm operated by American businessmen. The half real, a Mexican silver denomination, traded for 6 1/4 cents in U.S. money. Struck by a local blacksmith, tokens from the Wailuku Plantation are rare today, although several die varieties are known. This ebony-brown example has an even strike and has slightly granular surfaces. Careful inspection reveals a few faded field marks on the reverse. Listed on page 414 of the 2015 Guide Book. Population: 1 in 45, 1 finer (7/14).

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2UBP, PCGS# 600509)
