    1882 TOKEN Haiku Plantation One Rial Token MS63 Brown PCGS. Medcalf TE-15. Per Medcalf, the Haiku Plantation tokens are considered "the most artistic and well struck of the early metal tokens." The Haiku Sugar Company was located east of Wailuku. The denomination, one rial, was a phonetic derivative of the Spanish real and was equivalent to about a day's wages for a plantation laborer. A charming chocolate-brown example with an even strike and minimally marked, spot-free surfaces. Listed on page 421 of the 2017 Guide Book. Population: 3 in 63 Brown, 3 finer (5/16).
