    Important XF Hawaii Waterhouse Token

Undated (1855-1860) Hawaii-Waterhouse Token XF40 PCGS. Medcalf 2TE-1. John T. Waterhouse founded the first of his two Honolulu stores in 1851. The Waterhouse token is the earliest known Hawaiian token, and because it was struck in soft pewter, it is "virtually impossible to find above EF condition," per Medcalf. This cream-gray example is sharply struck with an apparent planchet flaw beneath the beehive but no singularly distracting flaws. Listed on page 391 of the 2009 Guide Book. (NGC ID# 2UBK, PCGS# 600500)
