Description

Ferdinand VI gold 8 Escudos 1754 S, Calico 629, KM26 (Rare), Fr-11, 26.9g, XF45 NGC. Strong in the central areas, but with peripheral weakness. This is the variety with F over S and 8 over S. The F is weak, but the S, 8 and S are quite strong. On the reverse, the area around the date is weak, but all four digits of the date are legible and easily readable. This is only the second dated example of this type that we have seen, and we don't know of another dated piece being sold at auction in the last five years. An extremely rare, and desirable, issue.
