Description

Republic Indian Motif 1814-1821 Study Lot, Extensive unprecedented 83 coin assemblage of various types of the early Republican emissions, mostly featuring the widely popular INDIAN bust. An approximate inventory is included but visual inspection is merited and desirable. RARE Half Real of 1814 has much detail but small surface flaws; it is still within an Almanzar auction envelope (circa 1975) graded Fine without value estimate but noted as "Extremely Rare". Half Real 1821 pair are holed. Real 1813-1816 trio are well circulated. Fourteen one Real 1821 JF includes one nicer example and one holed with the other dozen more typical. 2 Reales 1815 and trio of 1819 exhibit much honest wear. An impressive 38 examples (!!!) of the 2 Reales 1821 of the standard Ba-JF style (in many varieties) is flanked by one of the rare 1821 JF withOUT the Ba mintmark (thus the actual 1821 issue with good fineness rather than the frozen date type struck for several years thereafter). These pieces are generally well worn, as is typical, but a few are nicer and only two are holed. The crown-sized 8 Reales dated 1820 with JF and no mintmark (thus theoretically of good fineness) is represented by a full half dozen examples. One is probably VF with old toning, only one is holed, and three of the other four are acceptably pleasant type examples. The debased 1821 Ba-JF 8 Reales includes six coins, three arguably VF and two others Fine+. Finally an octet of later crowns, dated 1839 - 1857, is included as a bonus; they are well circulated including a copper pattern of the small diameter 8 Reales 1847. This opportunity to acquire so many examples for study may not again occur. Do note that the count and quality remarks should be considered as being approximate. Sold As Is, NO Returns.
Pedigreed To The Dana Roberts Variety and Study Accumulation.
