Description

Republic gold 5 Pesos 1864-M XF Details (Obverse Scratched) NGC, Medellin mint, KM148 (Rare), Restrepo-328. Struck as a one-year type with the "Colombia" legend. Extremely rare and listed without price in both the Standard Catalog of World Coins and Restrepo, this numismatically important 5 Pesos saw a total mintage of only 8,035, most of which have since been lost or destroyed. Considering the assigned grade, ample luster remains across the surfaces, with the noted scratch thin and minimally distracting. A very special coin, and a type that may not be seen at auction again for several years.
