    Description

April 10, 1774, $2/9, Maryland, MD-62, Fine. A problem-free circulated example with a few folds that are commensurate with the assigned grade. The edges are typically uneven, but the margins are clear of the design. The signatures are bold and clear. The colony of Maryland was founded by Cecil Calvert, the second Lord Baltimore, in 1632. The Calverts were Catholic and instituted a liberal policy of religious tolerance for Maryland, and hence the colony became a haven for English Catholics searching for a safe haven away from the religious strife of their homeland.
