    Description

    Scarce New Hampshire Colonial Issue

November 3, 1775, 40s, New Hampshire, NH-152, VG. Several large splits are present and have been reinforced with tape on the reverse, but the overall appearance is still somewhat attractive as the paper retains its brightness and bold printing. The signatures are still clear and the small pieces that are missing are insignificant. All notes from this colony are scarce in any grade, and are particularly difficult to locate in grades above VF. The first European settlement in New Hampshire was a fishing and trading village established near Portsmouth in 1623. Settlements at Exeter, Dover, and Hampton followed shortly, and in 1641 the area came under the jurisdiction of Massachusetts. New Hampshire became a separate crown colony in 1679. (PCGS# 5081520)
