    Description

    St. Patrick Halfpenny, Choice VF
    Vlack 1-B, W-11540

(1670-75) 1/2 P St. Patrick Halfpenny VF35 PCGS Secure. Breen-200, Vlack 1-B, W-11540. Dublin, Ireland merchant Mark Newby emigrated to New Jersey in 1781, bringing with him a cache of St. Patrick coppers. They were declared legal tender and circulated in the colony. St. Patrick halfpennies are scarcer than their farthing counterparts. This problem-free walnut-brown example displays moderate wear but the design is readily evident. The brass splasher overlaps most of the crown but misses the right-side quarter. Listed on page 41 of the 2016 Guide Book. Population: 13 in 35, 7 finer (11/15). (NGC ID# AUAS, PCGS# 46)
