(1670-75) St. Patrick's Farthing, VG Details
    No C in QVIESCAT, Breen-214, W-11500

(1670-75) FARTH St. Patrick Farthing, No C in QVIESCAT, Breen-214, W-11500 -- Environmental Damage -- PCGS Genuine. VG Details. A very rare Guide Book variety within the under-researched St. Patrick series. This is the first example of the variety that we have handled. Only a single reverse die lacks the C in QVIESCAT, an engraving blunder. The St. Patrick's coppers were struck in Dublin and transported to America by Mark Newby, where they circulated as legal tender in New Jersey. The chocolate-brown surfaces of this interesting piece show a considerable amount of porosity, but most of the major devices are still intact , at least in outline. The brass insert over the crown, placed there to give it a golden appearance and make counterfeiting more difficult, is still present. Listed on page 41 of the 2016 Guide Book.
