Description

(1670-75) FARTH St. Patrick Farthing VF35 PCGS Secure. Breen-212, W-11500. One of the various "Masonic punctuation" die varieties with a dot trio on the reverse border above the church. Uncertain objects beneath the king are described as "sea beasts" in the Breen Encyclopedia. The brass splasher is large yet misses the lower half of the crown. A nicely detailed mahogany-brown piece with unblemished and mildly wavy surfaces. The St. Patrick farthings were imported from Ireland to serve in New Jersey colonial commerce. Listed on page 41 of the 2015 Guide Book.
