'1776' 1/2 P Machin's Mills Halfpenny XF40 PCGS. Vlack 6-76A, W-7790, R.4. A golden-brown representative with pleasing surfaces, complete legends, and consistent color. The central strike is soft, as deliberately made to imply acceptance in commerce. Machin's Mills was a secretive New York private coiner. Although dated 1776, the piece was probably produced circa-1788. Listed on page 79 of the 2019 Guide Book.
