Libertas Americana Medal, MS63 Brown
Betts-615, Famous Bronze Symbol of American Liberty
(1781) MEDAL Libertas Americana Copper MS63 Brown PCGS.
Betts-615, Loubat-14. A Select example of this popular medal
celebrating American Independence, this piece has an overall
chocolate brown appearance, with closer examination revealing
intermingled hues of pastel green, steel blue, pale yellow, violet,
and red-pink. Though scattered marks are present, none poses a
distraction on this desirable specimen. Noted French medallist
Augustin Dupre“ engraved the dies for these medals in Paris, with
artist Espirit-Antoine Gibelin having sketched the design. A
wonderful piece of American history conceived by Benjamin Franklin.
