    Description

    '1788' Machin's Mills Halfpenny, AU53
    Vlack 23-88A, W-8100

'1788' 1/2 P Machin's Mills Halfpenny AU53 PCGS Secure. Vlack 23-88A, W-8100, R.2. An attractive representative of this late Machin's Mills issue dated 1788 that may or may not represent the actual date of production. However, it is unlikely that it was produced before 1788. The imitation British halfpence produced at Machin's Mills display a variety of dates, starting with 1747, and then continuing with various dates from 1771 to 1788. These are highly collectible and popular with colonial specialists. This lovely example has considerable cartwheel luster on its golden-brown and olive surfaces. Listed on page 68 of the 2018 Guide Book. Population: 3 in 53, 1 finer (3/18).
