    (Circa-1864) Higley Copper, MS62
    Bolen Silver Copy, Musante JAB-10

(circa-1864) Higley Copper, J.A. Bolen Copy, Silver, MS62 NGC. Kenney-4, Musante JAB-10, W-14285, R.7. Bolen's picturesque copy of the equally rare (but much more costly) W-8200 Three Hammers Higley copper. Chestnut-brown and powder-blue toning visits the satiny and unabraded surfaces of this lustrous Mint State piece. The peripheral strike is incomplete, which allows vestiges of roller marks (as made) near 3 o'clock on both sides. Copper examples were struck by both Bolen and Edwards, and are plentiful by Bolen medal standards. Much rarer pieces exist in silver, brass, or German silver (nickel alloy). The Bolen mintages were 40 in copper and two in silver. Three silver, five copper, and three brass examples appeared in Part XIV of the Ford sale in May 2006.

Truth Seeker: The Life of Eric P. Newman (softcover)
A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
