    Higley-Confederatio Bolen-Edwards Mule
    Very Rare W-14580, From Cancelled Dies
    MS64 Red and Brown

    (Post-1864) '1785' Higley Copper / Confederatio Mule, Edwards Copy, MS64 Red and Brown PCGS. Kenney-14, Musante JAB M/E-13, W-14580, High R.7. J.A. Bolen made both colonial imitation dies circa-1864. The obverse struck JAB-10, and the reverse struck JAB-7. Later, several Bolen dies were obtained by Dr. F.S. Edwards, who paired them indiscriminately to provide additional varieties for collectors. JAB-M/E-13 is very rare, and did not appear in the Ford auctions. Both sides display numerous raised bars, as made from cancelled dies. Substantial brick-red color emerges across well-preserved and evenly struck surfaces.
