Description

1652 Pine Tree Threepence, XF40
Noe-34, Seldom-Seen Denomination

1652 3PENCE Pine Tree Threepence XF40 PCGS. Noe-34, Salmon 1-A, R.4. Pellets at trunk. 17.1 gn. A slate-gray and silver-blue example of this scarce Pine Tree denomination. The tree is bold throughout. A mint-made straight clip is noted at 3 o'clock, and the obverse is misaligned several degrees toward 12 o'clock. Thin, flat areas left of the tree roots and above the 52 in the date suggest a straightened bend. Both sides display a few wispy hairlines. Listed on page 39 of the 2013 Guide Book.
