1652 Pine Tree Shilling, Large Planchet, Ligatured NE, Noe-8, W-740, Salmon 7-E, R.4, AU53 PCGS. 71.9 grains. A well-pedigreed silver-gray example with tobacco-brown patina in design recesses. A late die state with a sizeable break below the GL in ENGLAND, though the break is less advanced than in its terminal state. A lengthy, straight Boston Mint clip at 6 o'clock brings the piece to a standard weight, but all peripheral letters are fully present. Two straight diagonal creases on the central reverse bookend the date, as emitted from a rocker press. Listed on page 36 of the 2025 Guide Book.
