Mint State Pine Tree Shilling, Noe-1

1652 SHILNG Pine Tree Shilling, Large Planchet MS60 Uncertified. Noe-1. 71.60 grains. An extraordinary example of this popular Pine Tree variety. Struck from an earlier state of the dies and lacking the die cracks on each side of the date, as seen on later die states. The devices are well centered on each side and virtually every peripheral letter is complete. Planchet waviness is noted, as often encountered on Pine Tree coinage. Deeply toned, there is significant mint luster present overall and the devices are exceptionally well struck, the only notable exceptions being on the lower portions of the obverse and reverse. An unimprovable type coin. Listed on page 18 of the 2002 Guide Book.
