Small Planchet Guide Book Variety, W-930
1652 Pine Tree Shilling, Small Planchet -- Obverse Graffiti --
NGC Details. XF. Noe-29, W-930, Salmon 11-F, R.3. The top of
the tree points to the lower right serif of H and there is a heavy
5 in the date, identifying the popular W-930 variety. This lightly
worn specimen is well-centered on the obverse, with all legends
legible, but the four pellets at the bottom have been effaced by a
grid of light pinscratches. On the reverse, the legends on the left
run off the planchet by about 50%. The lightly abraded surfaces
show an attractive blend of lavender-gray and golden-brown toning.
