Sharply Defined Small Planchet Pine Tree Shilling

1652 SHILNG Pine Tree Shilling, Small Planchet XF40 PCGS. Noe-29. 69.4 grains. The upturned lower branches suggest a candelabrum. The 24.3 mm planchet is almost fully round and the design elements are very sharply struck. The D in ENGLAND is crude and heavily punched over what appears to be an upside-down D, although some believe it to be an A. A thoroughly pleasing coin that has original medium gray patina evenly spread over each side. Listed on page 18 of the 2002 Guide Book.
