Description

1652 Oak Tree Shilling, XF40
Elusive ANDO Variety, Noe-2, W-440

1652 SHILNG Oak Tree Shilling, ANDO, XF40 NGC. Noe-2, W-440, Salmon 1-B, R.7. 71.4 grains. Produced on a rocker press, the strike is generally sharp on this pleasing Oak Tree shilling, and the entire tree is well defined. The lustrous pearl-gray surfaces show only minor abrasions, the worst being a diagonal scratch at I in IN. The legends are mostly legible on this well-centered specimen, except for portions of HV on the obverse and E in ENGLAND on the reverse. A few areas of slight granularity are evident on both sides.
