Description

1652 SHILNG Oak Tree Shilling, IN at Left -- Damaged -- NGC Details. VF. Noe-1, W-430, Salmon 1-A, R.3. Ex: Carlyle Luer Collection. 69.4 grains. This is the usual early die state, offered here on a clipped flan with lightly tooled and buffed surfaces that have begun to retone to an attractive pewter-gray. The weight is nearly full, suggesting that very little clipping occurred outside the Boston Mint. Listed on page 41 of the 2018 Guide Book.
From The Carlyle A. Luer Collection.
