Description

Important MS63 Oak Tree Shilling, Noe-4

1652 SHILNG Oak Tree Shilling MS63 NGC. IN at bottom. Crosby 3-D, Noe-4, W-460, R.4. 71.0 gn. Noe-4 through Noe-7 share a common reverse die, but Noe-4 is readily identified by the close TH in MASATHVSETS. This is a magnificent example with luminous luster and pastel sun-gold and lilac toning. The reverse is well centered, and the obverse is misaligned slightly toward 6 o'clock but all letters are intact or nearly so. Most areas are boldly struck, the exceptions are the obverse at 3 o'clock and the reverse between 9 and 10 o'clock. Devoid of noticeable marks. Mildly wavy, as always due to its method of manufacture. Listed on page 37 of the 2010 Guide Book. Census: 4 in 63, 2 finer (9/09).

Coin Index Numbers: (PCGS# 20, GSID# 8)
