AU58 Large Planchet Pine Tree Shilling
Straight Tree Variety, Noe-2
1652 SHILNG Pine Tree Shilling, Large Planchet AU58 NGC.
CAC. Crosby 4-F, Noe-2, R.5. No pellets at trunk. 73.4 gn. The
distinctive 'Straight Tree' variety, named for the linear shape of
the pine tree's branches. This satiny Large Planchet shilling is
originally toned in gunmetal-gray, ice-blue, and straw-gold.
Moderately wavy, as produced from a rocker press. Evenly struck and
well centered with a few incomplete obverse letters near 6 o'clock,
caused by the usual mint-made clips made to bring the piece within
weight standards. A beautiful example with pleasing eye appeal.
